question by Melissa : m Which is better: Freestyle and Accu Chek? I need a new meter, and I need two: one for home / regular and one for school. I think everything betragtning.Jeg pricing and decided to get or Freestyle Lite or contract Accu Chek Plus (black). And I do not know what! Who (think that) are more accurate? My current meters, Freestyle Flash, not the right time and I have no experience with Accu Chek so I really do not kender.Compact Plus is a little old, but how are the drums, the consumer? Opredelitelen Freestyle Lite is the most updated one so far, but this does not mean that it is the best derude.Jeg especially like how Accu Chek’s all one thing and seems very easy to use, but I heard that requires greater blood sample from Freestyle Lite. Also, I like the background lighting of the Freestyle Lite, but the LCD screen to check Accu looks cool enough and easy to use in the dark without lys.Jeg not know if Lansing enten.Omkostninger also matters. Which would be more expensive? In the long term, including strips and Lancets or drums? Is there a specialist in this kind of stuff? I need help choosing a good glucose meter! I am a type I diabetes. best answer: Response from HereComesTheSun • • ™
I type 1 diabetes and I do not recommend “One Touch” meters, because I always confuse dates and stuff …. it is so annoying. I would say freestyle quality, not sure how much they cost, however, sorry

I am waiting for my free accu-chek meter. It is free and it comes with free 60 test strips. Here is the link for a free meter, and free skins for the meter. If you go down the page and fill this in you can get a free accu-chek meter. I dont know how good it is though. Sorry.

I love my Freestyle Freedom. The Freestyle Freedom Lite is the newest version of it. This new version doesn’t require coding, which is a plus.

WHY do I love my Freestyle? Smaller sampling (at just 0.3 microliters its one of the smallest samples around) and you can take samples on your arms, legs, not just fingers.

I’ve tested it against other meters and it seems very reliable too. They also have great customer service. Its very simple and easy to use, and its very fast.

If you ever have problems with accuracy, you can call their customer service line and they’ll help you find the problem. I’ve never had problems with accuracy, but I had one meter that went through batteries very fast and they replaced it at no charge, and I never had the problem again. I’ve been very happy with their products.

My mother has the Accucheck and I’m not impressed. I’ll stick with my Freestyle Freedom and when I need to update it I’ll get the Freestyle Freedom Lite.

The AccuCheck requires a larger sample, and there are only 17 tests per disc, so it probably works out to be more expensive.

You can call your pharmacy and ask how many discs are in a box and what it costs, and the same for the Freestyle, then you can work out the cost per test.

Keep in mind that with the drum system that Accucheck uses, if you don’t get enough blood for the test, you waste the strip, because you can’t restart the test. My Mom has wasted quite a few strips this way.

With my Freestyle I just pull the unused strip out, relance my arm to get a better sample, and then use the test strip. No waste.

On the Freestyle, you can just pull the test strip out of the slot and re-insert it when you are ready. If you delay with the Accu-check , your test strip is wasted. No chance to try again because its in a drum.

Lancing devices are all about the same, regardless of appearance.

I just use the same meter at home and when I’m out. I just keep my meter and insulin in the same tote bag and carry it with me.

If you really need a second meter, you can probably get a second Freestyle for free, the same as you would the first one. When you buy 100 test strips, you get a free meter, with Freestyle. Its easier if you have the same meter and model for both, so you only have to learn one system, and the test strips would be interchangeable.

By the way, Freestyle gives you free log books too, just call the customer service number in the owner’s manual.

They also sell software and cables so you can download your meter to your computer and print off your readings for your doctor. These are extra, but not expensive.
