I’m thinking about getting a glucose meter to test my sugar level. Should I? I freak my parents out. More my dad than my mom. I think I have hypoglycemia. But I have yet to be diagnosed. I’ve learned to eat food when I feel my sugar getting low.
I will tell my parents to take me to the doc. To see what I have. Thanks

Answer by Tsunami
a blood test would show either way and you should get to a doctor cuase they are both bad either way high or low can do things to your body and hurt stuff.

thanks (the) ill do that then take it to the doctors

Answer by The
If you have symptoms of this disease then the only way to determine that is to go see a doctor and have them test you. I believe you can get an over the counter sugar meter and some testing strips. Just follow the directions on how to use it then monitor your blood sugar levels for a week or 2 write down your readings. Take a fasting sugar level in the mornings prior to eating. then in the afternoons take another reading approximately one hour after your meal. keep the records of all your tests then take them to a doctor to interpret them and they will be able to determine if further testing of your blood is required

‘ve taken a lot of stick from family and friends recently for the amount of weight I’ve gained since Christmas 2006.
I’m 5ft6″ 31yrs old, and used to weigh 9st 6lbs (133lbs) 24% bodyfat and am now at 13st 7 lbs (189lbs) 38% body fat.
I’ve gone from a UK size 12 to a UK size 18/20 and my measurements are 40F-36-46 up from 36E-30-38.
Apart from the criticisms, the cellulite and the red stretch marks, I’m a lot happier than I was and don’t consider myself to be a fat girl.
I take exercise by ensuring I swim for half an hour every week. And I try to take the stairs to the 1st floor rather than take the lift at work.
I’ve tested and unless I eat 3000 calories per day I feel starving hungry. Since I stopped denying myself food I feel a lot happier, in fact I prefer the way I look too.
Most of the arguments I encounter suggest that my weight is a health risk, e.g. certain cancers, diabetes etc or if I one day decide to have kids.
My questions are:
a. Am I really at the stage of having to worry?
And b. What’s the difference in risk?
You hear scary stats like “twice as likely to catch..” But if your risk factor was 1 in a million before then I’d happily take my chances.
I look forward to your honesty
Thanx,
T
xx

Answer by Susan S
You will not age well or healthily at that weight. Try exercising more. Swimming once a week for 30 minutes is not enough for anyone. You do not mention what foods you eat. If you eat 3000 calories with no sweets or snack foods (junk) and no sodas, then you may well need those calories. You may want to see a dietician to evaluate your diet. The fact that you gained so much so fast is disturbing.

What do you think? Answer below!
